As a VIU Student Ambassador one of my roles is to take new students and visitors on tours of the Nanaimo Campus. I am often one of their first interactions with the university so it is very important to give them the most enjoyable experience. I often bring up 'fun facts' or personal stories to lighten the mood and get to know the group better. Once I get to know the people that I am giving a tour to then I am able to provide them with more relevant information. I have learned the importance of getting to know your group/team when leading others, and how it can make it a better experience for everyone involved.
